The development was made known in a statement on X by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.

Levi Obu Onyeka, also referred to as Obieze, was apprehended on May 29, 2025, by agents of the Nigeria Immigration Service at the Gbaji checkpoint on Badagry-Seme Road while trying to escape the country on a motorcycle.

His arrest followed credible intelligence linking him to the abduction, kidnapping, and alleged ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in Isiagu Community, Enugu State.

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, on Thursday.

Obieze, a native doctor from Umuajor village in Enugu, was reportedly part of a group of three men who abducted the victim on May 27, 2025, while she was walking with her father to the farm. The girl was later rescued from a shrine allegedly linked to Obieze.

According to the NIS, Obieze’s identity was confirmed through a National Identity Management Commission enrollment slip found in his possession. He also reportedly confessed to the crimes during initial questioning.
