Speaking in an interview on a podcast show, Onakoya said he’d like to become a man of affluence and influence.
While he is known for his charity work and chess coaching, Onakoya emphasised that he doesn’t want to be defined solely by these roles.
He expressed a desire to amass wealth and power, with the intention of using that influence responsibly, particularly to support children.
“I want to be a billionaire. And I mean that. I’ve always been afraid to say that. I just don’t want to be known as just the chess in slums guy. The charity guy. I want to make a lot of money,” he stated.
He added that, “I also want to have a lot of power. And with that power comes new responsibility. And my responsibility and duty will always be to the children.”
