Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the incident in a post on social media, stating that the attack occurred around 8:30 a.m. along the Margif–Kopmur Road.

The victims were identified as Michael Lontukun, from Njin Kopmur village in Mushere West, and Stephen David, from Kopmur village in Margif Ward.

Eyewitnesses affirmed that the assailants opened fire without warning. Lontukun died instantly, while David sustained gunshot wounds.

Troops of the Nigerian Army and the Sector 5 Commander of the Special Task Force, STF, were later deployed to the area in response to the attack.

The injured victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Horop for treatment, while the family of the deceased claimed his remains for burial, reportedly declining an autopsy.
