The governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, announced the decision in a statement, describing it as part of reforms to make the club more efficient, accountable, and competitive.
Governor Alia directed all outgoing officials to hand over documents and assets to the Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Creativity. He thanked the former management for their service but said the club needed “a new direction that reflects professionalism and transparency.”
He added that a new management team would soon be announced to lead the next phase of Lobi Stars’ development.

Alia reaffirmed his commitment to using sports to engage youth and promote talent in the state, saying his administration aims to create opportunities for young people to excel locally and internationally.
Founded in 1981 as Hawks of Makurdi, Lobi Stars remains one of Nigeria’s long-standing football clubs.
