The incident occurred while the farmers were working on their fields during the peak of the harvest season. According to a community source, the attackers stormed the area unexpectedly and surrounded the victims as they gathered their harvested rice.

“Bandits struck again at Bokungi under the Lafiagi Emirate. Four people were abducted. Information is still emerging,” the source said.

Residents reported that the gunmen operated for several minutes without any resistance, forcing the farmers into the nearby bush before taking them to an unknown location.

Community members also expressed concern over the rising insecurity in Edu LGA, noting that many farming settlements have been abandoned as fear of attacks heightens, especially during harvest periods when farmers are most vulnerable.
