The movie, Extra Mile was produced by Joy Grant and Solate Ovundah-Akarolo, who also served as Executive Producer, Extra Mile stood out for its heartfelt storytelling, standout performances, and fresh narrative approach within Nollywood cinema. The film resonated deeply with audiences and judges alike, earning praise for its honest depiction of friendship, betrayal, and resilience.

Starring acclaimed Nollywood actors Mercy Johnson, Jim Iyke, and Lilian Esoro, the film explores the emotional complexities of friendship tested by difficult choices. While the star-studded cast adds depth and charisma, it’s the story’s raw honesty and universal themes that truly elevate it.

“TINFF’s recognition is an encouragement for female voices in Nollywood to keep breaking boundaries and telling stories that matter,” said producer Joy Grant.

The award was received on behalf of the team by Oraye St. Franklyn, Five2 Media’s Canada-based communications lead, who expressed gratitude to the entire cast and crew for their dedication and hard work.

For Executive Producer Solate Ovundah-Akarolo, the win marks more than just an individual achievement—it reflects a broader shift in the industry.

Held annually in Toronto, TINFF brings together African cinema and the global diaspora, providing a platform for authentic voices and cross-cultural storytelling.
