The 34-year-old fell ill while undergoing pre-season fitness testing at São Paulo’s training centre last Tuesday, prompting immediate medical attention.

According to a statement released on Monday, São Paulo confirmed that Oscar had been released from the renowned Einstein Israelita Hospital on Sunday. The club reassured fans, stating that the player was “stable and clinically well” throughout his stay.

The medical investigation revealed that Oscar had experienced a case of vasovagal syncope, a common condition that causes fainting due to a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate.

Oscar, who began his career at São Paulo before moving to Chelsea, returned to his boyhood club last year on a three-year contract. He had spent eight years playing in China before rejoining São Paulo in 2023.

The club also stated that Oscar will now follow a prescribed rest and recovery plan for the next few days as he continues his recovery.
