Dunhai made the remarks on his X account after meeting Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
“As a comprehensive strategic partner of Nigeria, China firmly supports the Nigerian government in leading its people to a development path that fits Nigeria’s national realities,” he wrote.
He added that, “We oppose any country’s interference in other countries’ internal affairs under the pretext of religion and human rights. We oppose the wanton threat of sanction and use of force. China is willing to continue supporting Nigeria in combating terrorism and maintaining domestic stability.”

The comments come amid heightened international attention on violence in parts of Nigeria. The post follows public statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump calling for possible U.S. military action in Nigeria.
According to his post, Trump urged the Pentagon to map out a plan of attack and said any U.S. action “will be fast, vicious, and sweet,” adding that he was concerned about attacks on Christians in the country. The Nigerian government has denied the claims and suggested meetings to resolve the matter; Trump later reiterated his threat.
Analysts say diplomatic statements like China’s reflect broader international sensitivities, nations often balance condemning violence with warnings against external interference, particularly where sovereignty and regional stability are invoked.
