Keaton’s long-standing support of Allen remained a point of public discussion, particularly when allegations of sexual abuse against the director resurfaced in 2017. In a 2018 tweet, Keaton wrote, “Woody Allen is my friend and I continue to believe him.”

Born Diane Hall on January 5, 1946, in Los Angeles, she adopted her mother’s maiden name, Keaton, as her stage name to avoid confusion with another actress registered under her birth name.
