Aproko Doctor stated this in a video shared on his social media page, specifically highlighting that retinol and its derivatives as harmful ingredients that can negatively affect fetal development.


“Retinoid is a vitamin A derivative. It can affect the organs of the baby while it’s still developing in your womb,” he explained.


He cautioned that these compounds often appear under various names on product labels, including Retin-A, Adapalene, Tretinoin, Isotretinoin, and Retinoformatase, and urged pregnant women to read ingredient lists carefully.


“If you don’t want your baby to be born with some kind of peg, avoid retinol during your pregnancy,” he added.


He emphasized the importance of medical guidance, especially for women undergoing prenatal interventions such as Latinetta.

These warnings are consistent with recommendations from global health authorities. The American Academy of Dermatology Association, AAD, advises pregnant individuals to avoid skincare products containing retinoids, hydroquinone, formaldehyde, and phthalates due to their potential risk to fetal health.


The AAD recommends using gentle, alcohol-free cleansers and mineral-based sunscreens during pregnancy, while also advising that treatments for conditions like stretch marks should only be used under medical supervision.
