The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Governors’ Forum is set to hold a crucial meeting in Ibadan today.
A credible source hinted that the emergency meeting will address the controversy surrounding the reinstatement of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, by the Supreme Court.
Recall that the apex Court, in a ruling delivered on March 21, 2025, invalidated previous lower court decisions that briefly installed Sunday Udeh-Okoye in the position.

Although the PDP had earlier aligned with Udeh-Okoye, it has yet to make a formal statement following the apex court’s decision that reinstated Anyanwu, who is widely known as a close ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The PDP governors are also expected to discuss the political unrest in Rivers State, most especially the controversial suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who also serves as the party’s Vice Chairman.
Fubara’s suspension followed President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, escalating the already tense political climate in the State.
The Governors are expected to deliberate on the implications of the development for the party and its leadership.
The Forum is also expected to discuss the proposed merger of opposition parties in a bid to form a stronger team ahead of the coming 2027 general election.
The Ibadan meeting is seen as a crucial turning point for the PDP, as it seeks to navigate internal rivalries, legal entanglements, and mounting external pressures in the lead-up to 2027.
