The Federal Ministry of Education has introduced Inspire Live(s), a new online real-time learning programme designed to give students across Nigeria wider access to quality education.

In a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, the initiative was described as a major step toward ensuring that every child can learn, no matter where they live. The programme supports the education goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

According to the ministry, the online classes will help solve long-standing problems such as a shortage of qualified teachers and frequent disruptions to learning. By streaming live, interactive lessons, the programme aims to make quality teaching available to all students.

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that the programme is already in full operation and will eventually cover all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3. At the moment, the Inspire platform offers lessons for JSS and SSS students from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., taught by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex.

Subjects available for JSS students include Mathematics, English, Basic Science, ICT, Agricultural Science, Civic Education, French, and others. SSS students have access to subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, and more.

To support the rollout, the ministry has asked all state Commissioners for Education to appoint a State Focal Officer, share programme details with schools, and ensure that designated schools have basic ICT tools and internet access. Registration is to be carried out only by school principals through the Inspire support channels.

The ministry noted that the programme is open to both public and private schools nationwide.
