In a new development, the Osun State Government has accused former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and members of his administration of contract racketeering and money laundering during their tenure.

The allegations were made by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, during a live broadcast on radio stations in Osun State earlier today.

Alimi who revealed that the government has gathered documents to substantiate the claims added that the state government would present the documents to the public before the end of the week.

“Let me use this medium to inform members of the public that we have plausible evidence and documents to back it up that the former Governor of the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, his Commissioners for Finance, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, Commissioner for Works Remi Omowaiye, Commissioner for Local Government Adebayo Adeleke Banik, their ALGON Chairman, Abiodun Samuel Idowu and others were involved in various contract racketeering and money laundering activities during their administration,” he said.

Reacting to this, Banik dismissed the rumor, saying the incumbent Governor Adeleke led the Administration upon assumption of power 2 years ago, set up a contract committee that investigated the deed of the past administration.

He, however, likened the allegation to a child’s play, stressing that if Osun Government has any financial claim against the APC administration, they should write the anti-graft agency.
