According to counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the corps members, including 36 males and 38 females, were stranded after their buses broke down near a known kidnapping hotspot. A military patrol team was quickly deployed after troops monitoring a CCTV system detected unusual movement involving three buses in the area.

On arrival, the soldiers found the corps members stranded and immediately secured their safety, preventing what could have been an abduction attempt by Boko Haram or Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents.

The report stated that the corps members had earlier been escorted from Maiduguri to Damaturu by troops of the 7 Division Garrison but continued their journey to Hawul Local Government Area without notifying Sector 2 headquarters or requesting further military escort.

The rescued corps members are currently being sheltered at the Buratai military base while arrangements are being made for their safe onward movement.

This incident follows a similar case in which an NYSC member, Chiamaka Obi, was abducted along the Niger–Onitsha expressway while returning home from service.

Troops under Operation Lafiya Nakowa carried out a clearance patrol around several villages in Takum Local Government Area after receiving intelligence about armed groups planning attacks.

During the operation, they discovered and destroyed a hideout near TY Farm in Tati, forcing the bandits to flee. One Dane gun and other items were recovered.

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, praised the soldiers for their quick response and urged residents to share credible information that could help security forces prevent attacks.

In Benue, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke raided a suspected cult base in the North Bank area of Makurdi, arresting seven people linked to robbery, drug abuse, and cult violence.
Items recovered include two locally made pistols, ammunition, a laptop, a dagger, and charms. The suspects are now in military custody for further investigation.

Force Commander Major General Moses Gara commended the troops for their efforts and warned youths, especially students, against joining cult groups or engaging in crime.

He assured that the Army will continue to sustain pressure on criminal networks across Taraba and Benue.

The military said the assaults happened between midnight and early morning in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko. The soldiers reportedly fought back strongly, supported by air strikes, and inflicted heavy losses on the attackers.

According to military spokesperson Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, several terrorists were killed and many others injured. Troops recovered dozens of weapons, including 38 AK-47 rifles, machine guns, RPGs, and large amounts of ammunition.

Intelligence reports showed that some attackers came from the Cameroon axis and the Timbuktu Triangle. A few soldiers were injured but are in stable condition.
