Oyedokun also affirmed that the relocation is tantamount to squandering Osun State’s investment, as previous administrations have expended much capital into the project, citing Rauf Aregbesola’s administration expended about ₦3.5 billion of the State’s funds on the project before concessionimg it to AWOL Limited.

The Osun Masterminds demanded that the Osun State Governor immediately reins in the persons claiming to be representing Government, who are bent on hijacking the said land, against existing judgment of the Osun State High Court.

This was made known by the Executive Director of the Group, Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, while presenting the October State of the State address, where he noted that the society is aware of the rift that broke out between the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, and a Lawyer who was on assignment on the said land.

He said the group is aware of the series of events that has transpired on the land between the Osun State Government and the Gbaemu Royal Family, which culminated in a judgment of the Osun State High Court.

Oyedokun also condemned the ongoing construction of the overhead bridge at Oke fia and Lameco junction saying such construction is needless and worthless considering the present day economy, a stand he said the Organization also made public when the previous Government constructed the Olaiya flyover.

According to him, “when the Oyetola Government commenced the construction of the Olaiya Flyover, we made it clear that it was a needless venture and a number of our constituent organizations fiercely took the previous government on, going as far as submitting complaints to anti-graft agencies.”

While speaking on the hardship in the country, Oyedokun maintained that increment in the state’s allocation has no impact on lives the citizens of the state and however appealed to both federal and state government to intensity effort on alleviating programs that will make life easy for all.

The group again called on the Federal Government and the Osun State Government more importantly, to as a matter of urgency, intensify efforts to free the masses from the shackles of poverty.

The Executive Director of the society, Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, made this known while presenting the September State of the State address, where he noted that despite huge revenue from the Federal Government, which has not translated to human development in the state, the government is keen at earning from mining instead of addressing the environmental degradation.

“We remain well informed about the rising revenue accruing to the Osun State Government from the coffers of the Federal Government.”

“It is also worthy of mention, the ongoing issues in the gold mining sector of the State. It is sad that the State Government has over the years, prioritized revenue over the proper management of the environment around the mining sites. It is also sad, that the State Government’s release, where it accused Segilola of several infractions, prioritized earnings over proper management of the environment.”

Oyedokun also charged the government to be actively steadfast in productive sectors ranging from Agriculture to Tourism, which will be of much importance to the state at large, instead of pumping funds into worthless projects that have no direct bearing on human development.

“While the Federal Government is being pressured to implement the right policies, State Governments cannot continue to be irresponsible, expending billions of State Resources on frivolities that have no direct bearing on the well-being of the people.”

Speaking on the new minimum wage, Oyedokun affirmed that fingers are crossed on the government’s disposition to the issue, stressing that Civil Servants’ welfare should be paramount to the government.

He however called on the Federal Government to end the flotation of the Naira and proposed the return of fuel subsidies until a time in the future when proper structures have been put in place to manage the consequences of total deregulation.
