Reports showed roofs torn off homes and Tornadoes, storms kill 27 in USlarge trucks overturned, as forecasters warned of more tornadoes to come this weekend.

According to the report, eight people died in Kansas in a crash involving more than 50 vehicles caused by low visibility during a severe dust storm.

Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed 12 storm-related fatalities and shared images of boats piled on top of one another at a marina destroyed by the weather.

The state police reported downed trees and power lines, as well as damage to buildings, with some areas severely impacted by tornadoes, thunderstorms, and large hail.

In the same vein, Police confirmed six fatalities in Missouri’s Wayne County, three in Ozark County — where multiple injuries and one each in Butler, Jefferson, and St Louis counties.

In Texas, local authorities told newsmen that four people had died in vehicle accidents linked to dust storms and fires that reduced visibility on the roads.

Officials said three people had died and 29 had been injured in the storm in the neighboring state of Arkansas.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared a state of emergency in response and said she had spoken with President Donald Trump.

A 13-year-old boy died when a tree was blown onto a mobile home in Levy County, the sheriff’s office there said, after Debby made landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast earlier Monday as a Category One hurricane.

Authorities said a truck driver was killed after his 18-wheeler plunged into a canal in Hillsborough County, while a 38-year-old woman and 12-year-old boy died in a car crash in Dixie County.

According to the National Hurricane Centre, the storm moved into Georgia overnight and is expected to go offshore before approaching the South Carolina coast on Thursday. 

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that some 250,000 residents in his state were without power.

President Joe Biden has approved emergency declarations for Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, allowing for federal assistance in coordinating disaster relief efforts.

DeSantis also activated his state’s National Guard, with more than 3,000 service members mobilised to help with storm response.

Tropical Storm Debby is a severe weather system characterised by strong winds and heavy rainfall. It formed over the ocean and made landfall, causing significant damage and disruptions.
