The decision was announced in Abuja after a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), which approved the findings of its disciplinary panel and a White Paper that reviewed the case.

Speaking to journalists, the party’s spokesperson, Rufus Aiyenigba, said the expulsion followed months of investigation and disciplinary hearings. He explained that the affected officials were earlier suspended after the party found evidence of wrongdoing.

An independent disciplinary committee was later set up to look into the allegations. The committee submitted its report, which was reviewed and adopted by the NWC before the final decision was made.

Those expelled include Shehu Gabam, former national chairman, and Ogbonna Chukwuma Uchechukwu, former national youth leader. The national auditor, Clarkson Nnadi, resigned before the decision was announced.

Other expelled members are Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, Abubakar Dogara, Nuraddeen Bisalla, Solsuema Osaro, Ambo Ekpeyong, Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Humphrey Unwukaeze, and Judith Israel Shuaibu. They were accused of disloyalty and of breaking into the party’s national secretariat, where they were allegedly caught with sensitive documents and valuables.

Aiyenigba said the disciplinary action was taken to restore discipline and integrity in the party. He added that the NWC is committed to transparency, accountability, and adherence to the party’s constitution.

He noted that the decision takes effect immediately and was unanimously approved by all members of the NWC.

Akingboye, until his death, was the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Benshore Maritime and Clog Oil Systems, as well as the President of WeAfrica Group.

He also held the traditional title of Olowomeye I of Ikaleland.

The deceased contested with incumbent governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Agboola Ajayi of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and 12 others in the last year gubernatorial election.

The twin victories further consolidate the APC’s dominance in Kaduna politics, especially in Zaria zone where the contests were largely considered a test of strength between the ruling party and the opposition.

SDP declared El-Rufai as ineligible to associate with the party in any capacity for the next 30 years.

The leadership of the party accused him of falsely parading himself as a party member, manipulating internal processes, and attempting to destabilise the party through unconstitutional actions and deceptive political maneuvers.

This was made known in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Araba Aiyenigba, in Abuja.

According to him, the party’s NWC reached the decision following thorough investigations into El-Rufai’s controversial claims of membership and what they described as “alleged backdoor political activities” which has fueled internal divisions and threatened the party’s unity and ideological integrity.

SDP also accused the former Kaduna governor of aligning with another political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), while trying to draw the SDP into an unapproved political coalition.

The SDP called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant institutions to take note of El-Rufai’s non-member status, warning that he is not authorized to act or speak on behalf of the party.

A fresh wave of crisis has erupted within the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Benue State, as over 500 members who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have made a U-turn, abandoning the ADC and returning to their former party.

The defection and counter-defection come barely days after the ADC appointed former Senate President, David Mark, as its interim national leader following his dramatic departure from the PDP.

Mark, who served multiple terms in the Senate under the PDP, had blamed unresolved internal wranglings within the party for his decision to switch allegiance.

The situaton was perceived as a political breakthrough for the ADC has quickly spiraled into turmoil.

Sources within the party revealed that the crisis first broke out in Ogbadibo and Okpokwu Local Government Areas, where longstanding Labour Party and Social Democratic Party, SDP, members accused the returning PDP bloc of attempting to hijack the ADC’s local structures and leadership.

According to an insider, tensions flared when it became evident that former PDP members were angling for control of executive positions, sidelining other blocs. “They want to corner all the juicy positions and leave us with irrelevant roles,” the source said.

Sources confirmed to Daily Post that a majority of the former PDP members who initially joined the ADC have now returned to their original party, deeply dissatisfied with what they describe as internal manipulation, lack of coordination, and failure to honor pre-defection agreements.

He disclosed this in an interview on a radio programme.

According to him, “Those who refuse to join the APC face threats of investigations by agencies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, or Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB.

“The opposition parties’ alliance in the ADC is temporary, and we may register a new party as a second option, which we will move to should the ADC be instigated into crisis by the government,” he added.

The coalition had tried to register a new party, All Democratic Alliance, ADA, after initial talks with ADC and Social Democratic Party, SDP, had broken down.

But when it appeared their attempts to register ADA might be frustrated by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the coalition resumed talks with ADC.
