The inauguration was observed by the Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed.

The Rivers State local government election was held on Saturday across the state.

Results from the state Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, said the Action Peoples Party won 22 out of the 23 local governments.

The Chief Election Officer of RSIEC, Justice Enebeli, disclosed this in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

While declaring the results, Enebeli said the announcement was suspended in Etche Local Government Area because the results collation was ongoing.

Enebeli clarified that the result of Etche LGA and the 319 councillorship positions would be announced upon the conclusion of the collation.

RSIEC later declared Uzordinma Nwafor of the Action Alliance winner of the poll in Etche Local Government Area.

When contacted, the spokespetson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she had yet to get a report on it but promised to revert.

The party has yet to make a statement on the incident.

Reacting to the claims by Reuben, Gogo Wellington, the Labour Party Publicity Secretary in the state, urged the public to disregard any statements not issued by the party’s State Working Committee.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen,, Wellington emphasized that the Labour Party maintains a positive relationship with the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC, commending the commission’s professionalism.

Wellington further expressed confidence in RSIEC’s ability to oversee the activities of other political parties and ensure compliance with the law, and clarified that it is not the Labour Party’s position to comment on unsubstantiated allegations.
