Hamzat is the proprietor of Agidigbo FM, an Ibadan-based radio station; while Fasasi is the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.

They are currently standing trial over the stampede which occurred during a Christmas funfair at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, in December 2024.

The incident claimed the lives of no fewer than 35 children.The bail applications were heard at the Oyo State High Court, Court 8, Ring Road, Ibadan.

Counsel for the suspects had filed a summons of application for bail before the court.

After listening to the submissions and arguments of the counsel on points of law, Justice Olawoyin adjourned ruling on the bail application till Tuesday, January 13.The suspects are currently being remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre Agodi

Fasasi was represented by Waheed Olajide, Ex-queen Naomi was represented by Musibau Adetunmbi, SAN, and Hamzat was represented by Adekunle Sobaloju, SAN.

The cases were argued separately by the counsel in a proceeding that lasted over five hours.

The state had also filed a counter-application against the bail of the suspects.

The state team was led by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Abiodun Aikomo who led top officials of the Ministry of Justice.

All the counsel in their separate arguments told the court why their clients should be allowed to enjoy their freedom, noting that there are no sufficient evidence is before the court to warrant the confining to prison custody.

The court presided over by Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi, issued the order after the suspects were brought to court amidst heavy security.

The defendants are facing a four-count charge. According to the police prosecutor, the offences contravened Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The prosecution alleged that the trio played a role in the events leading to the stampede that turned the Christmas celebration into a tragedy.

Chief Magistrate Ogunkanmi directed that the defendants be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Oyo State Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court proceedings, which drew significant public attention, saw law enforcement officers heavily guarding the suspects as they were escorted to and from the court premises.

The event was filled with joy and excitement as Tadenikawo, 4, became the centre of attention, with guests eagerly lining up to dance with him. His father’s wives, Queen Temitope and Aderonke joined the  festivities, adding to the jubilant atmosphere.

The queens who played with Tadenikawo also shared some moments with Naomi.

The former Olori and the Ooni married in October 2018 and welcomed their son, Tadenikawo, on 18  November 2020.

Naomi, in December 2021 confirmed the end of her three-year marriage to the monarch on her official Instagram page.

The former queen, who leads an interdenominational ministry in Akure, Ondo State, explained that her decision to end the marriage stemmed from a disconnect between the monarch’s public image and ‘his true self.

Since their separation, the monarch and the prophetess had not been seen together publicly until they reunited at a praise night held as part of the opening ceremonies for the Ooni’s Ojaja Park in Akure, Ondo State.

Naomi attended the event because it took place in Akure, her hometown. At one point, she was seen standing beside the Ooni, appearing relaxed as dignitaries showered Tadenikawo with cash gifts.

Besides the dignitaries, Tadenikawo’s father’s wives, and other well-wishers, Ooni’s sister, Princess Adesola, also held and played with the prince at the event.

Despite their past, Naomi and the Ooni’s interactions were warm and cordial, reassuring the audience of  their amicable relationship.
