Olawumi who disclosed this while featuring as guest on Gbagede Oro, a Yoruba current Affairs programme on Redio Affinju, said contrary to some rumours, the All Progressives Congress committee of Elders are not under the influence of any stakeholder or any individual in the party.

Contrary to some rumours, the former Adviser revealed that his party (APC) committee of elders are not under the influence of any stakeholders or any individual in the party.

He further disclosed that the committee of elders in APC gave order that none of the party members should purchase primary election form for the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state until further notice, however nine of the party members purchased their tickets.

Olawumi, who hinted that the committee of elders was created by the former Governor and Minister of Interior Affairs, Rauf Aregbesola, maintained that the committee is not entrenched in the party constitution.

While speaking on the chances of the party in the forthcoming governorship election, Olawunmi maintained that the party is waxing stronger and preparing for the election in the state.

Adeleke made the allegation during a press conference.

It was gathered that Oyetola is spearheading moves to enforce a court order that reversed the sack of local council chairmen, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

Adeleke alleged that Oyetola is conspiring with several law enforcement agents, including the State Commissioner of Police and the State Director of the Department of State Services, DSS, to destabilize the state.

‘I called this press conference to alert the national and global audience about a deliberate plot to create chaos and anarchy in Osun state. I invite you all to expose a fascist anti-democratic agenda designed to enforce a non-existing court judgment on our local governments. This evil plot is being spearheaded by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy,  Mr Gboyega Oyetola in active collaboration with the Osun state Commissioner of Police, the Osun state Director of DSS and the State Commandant of the Civil Defense Corps,” he said.

The Governor said he chose to alert the nation before people are killed or maimed.

According to him, the bone of contention is the brazen effrontery to return to office council chairmen sacked by a subsisting court judgment using a different court decision, which has no consequential order.

For emphasis, l want to state that I had nothing to do with the sacking of the chairmen and councilors produced by the Osun 2022 local government polls. The Chairmen and Councilors were sacked by two different judgments of the Federal High Court Osogbo.’

‘The script Mr Oyetola is playing is about the most reprehensible abuse of power in this fourth republic capable of untold and unforeseen consequences on the polity,’ he added.

Adeleke explained that the said council chairmen were sacked before he was sworn in as governor of Osun State, contrary to the lies being peddled, that the chairmen and councilors were sacked by his Executive Order.

Speaking on the withdrawal while featuring on Rédíò Afínju’s Yoruba current affairs program ‘Gbagede Ọrọ,’ the Chairman of the Omoluabi Progressives, Azeez Adesiji, maintained the decision was borne out of uninvestigated expulsion of the leader of the group, Rauf Aregbesola by APC.

He noted that the formation of Omoluabi Progressives is for promoting culture and upholding the virtues that Osun State is known for.

On the rift between the immediate past Executive Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, and past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola,  Adesiji maintained that bigwigs in the Party were unable to settle the matter, stressing that President Bola Tinubu was being nonchalant on the issue as he and a one time Governor of the State, Bisi Akande were contacted.

While highlighting the prospect of Omoluabi Progressives, Adesiji affirmed that the Party is ready and will field candidates in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State.

Reacting to this, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bade Falade, expressed his dissatisfaction over the move, saying the pedigree of Aregbesola and his followers cannot be overemphasized.

He added that no political party would want to lose the caliber of Aregbesola as its member.

Falade maintained that the rift between Aregbesola and Oyetola did not emanate at the grassroots level, leaving him helpless, as the issue involves bigwigs in the party.

He believed that forming Omoluabi Progressives was a way of creating a third force in the State, and APC as a party lost nothing, as the group only sat on the fence in the last gubernatorial election in the State.

Falade mentioned that Aregbesola would still be betrayed by his followers as some of them would not follow him to his new Party.
