In a statement signed by family head Omolayo Aloba and the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, the family claimed that no statutory or traditional marriage was ever contracted between Mohbad and Omowunmi, as the customary rites required under Yoruba tradition were not completed. They insisted that she must refrain from using the Aloba name publicly or privately until paternity is legally established.

The family reiterated its call for an independent and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, maintaining that it remains committed to ensuring justice and accountability.

Three administrators, Ajewole Aloba, Rasaq Famuyiwa, and Alonge Aloba ,have been selected to manage the late artist’s estate, including his assets, royalties, and intellectual property. The family stated that Omowunmi and her son would be included in the estate management process if the DNA test confirms Liam’s paternity.

They added that a new burial and memorial date would be announced once ongoing legal and family issues are resolved.

Reacting, Omowunmi said Aloba’s constant change of lawyers shows bad faith, insisting that she has cooperated with all legal requirements since the case began.

In a defiant video posted on TikTok, the film star said he was responding to a recent ruling from a magistrate court in Ikeja, Lagos, which barred him and four others, including Mohbad’s father Joseph Aloba, from mentioning Wunmi and her son, Liam, in public statements.

“I have never committed a crime by mentioning your name, Wunmi. I will tell the judge that I will continue to mention your name, and I will give my reasons,” he said.

“Wunmi, you went to get a court order that I and some others should not mention your name again, but I will continue to do so. Were you not in the house when Mohbad died?. You are abusing power because of the small change you have. I have not even publicly declared that you killed Mohbad”

“I am still taking my time, but you must submit yourself to police investigation. I will not accept these attempts to dodge, because I am a complainant in this case, and when your attention is needed, you keep avoiding it.”

He challenged the basis of the order, questioning, “Should I mention another person’s name? What is so special about your name?”

Fabiyi further framed his stance as part of the pursuit for justice, daring Wunmi to meet him in court.

Recall that, Mohbad, known for hits like KPK and Ask About Me, died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. His passing sparked widespread outrage and accusations, with many speculating that he was bullied during his time with Marlian Music.

In the documentary, Naira Marley insisted he never bullied Mohbad or had a hand in his death. He revealed that in 2020, Mohbad admitted to taking a substance known as Ice, crack, to cope with stress. Marley said he advised him against it but did not force him into rehab.

On Mohbad’s career under Marlian Music, Naira Marley explained that financial dealings were transparent and often split “50-50.” He claimed Mohbad had chosen his own manager and was given fair terms.

He also denied rumors that Mohbad avoided hospitals, presenting evidence of medical visits in 2020.

Recounting the February 2022 NDLEA raid on the Marlian house, Marley said Mohbad had a panic attack after his release and accused him and others of wanting him dead.

“That day, while under duress, he went live on Instagram and said, ‘If I die, everybody na Marlian Music, Naira Marley kill me.’ But he also accused Zinoleesky, our wives, and even his girlfriend,” he said.

Despite this, Marley claimed Mohbad later apologized alongside his parents and girlfriend.

He also disclosed that Mohbad attempted suicide in March 2022 and had once searched online for the insecticide Sniper. Marley said he paid for medical checkups and medication but noticed the singer gradually distanced himself from the Marlian house.

Naira Marley stressed that he was in Amsterdam when Mohbad died and insisted that investigations should have focused on those who were with the singer 24–48 hours before his passing.

“I’ve never sent anyone to bully him,” Marley said, adding that Sam Larry also assured him of his innocence.

He criticised the police for detaining him for two months upon his return to Nigeria, despite voluntarily coming back to clear his name.

Marley concluded by stating that all royalties from Mohbad’s works during his time with Marlian Music remain intact and can be claimed by his family through their appointed representatives.

Adeyemo said this while testifying at the coroner’s inquest in Ikorodu.

Report has it that the inquest which began on September 29, 2023, was set up by the Lagos State Government to unravel the cause of Mohbad’s death.

Mohbad died on September 12 2023, under questionable circumstances and was buried the following day.

Following the calls for justice across the nation, his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH.

However, during the court sitting, Adeyemo, who is also Mohbad’s nephew, told the Ikorodu magistrate court that Mohbad’s father insisted on burying him immediately after receiving N2 million from Davido.

Adeyemo also claimed that he transferred N1 million to Aloba and later gave the remaining amount to Adura, Mohbad’s younger brother, after settling hospital bills and ambulance rental fees.

According to sources,  Adeyemo further revealed that investigators took custody of the deceased’s phone after his death.
