Meranda took her oath of office just after the impeachment of the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, on Monday during a plenary session.

She represents the Apapa 1 state constituency in the State House of Assembly.

While taking her oath of office, Meranda emphasized that she would be faithful as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and would perform her functions honestly to the best of her ability, faithfully, and in accordance with the Constitution of Nigeria.
