An Osun-based Civil Society, The Osun Masterminds, TOM, has expressed  concern over the crippled operation at the local government Secretariat across the State owing to the controversial ruling of the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure.

The Society made this known through its Executive Director, Wasiu Oyedokun- Allí at this month’s edition of the State of the State address.

While reaffirming the importance of local government to the development of the grassroots, the Society enjoined Local Government Employees to stay clear of politics, adding that gladiators behind the unrest pave the way for peace to foster local government’s development.

The Society further berated the State Government under the leadership of Ademola Adeleke’s slow response to the ongoing crisis in the Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin communities of the State, saying the efforts to resolve the crisis should be decisive and futuristic without any political undertone.

However, the Society urged the Government to seek advice from past administrations, the Royal Fathers, and all other stakeholders towards resolving the communal disturbance.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Oyedokun-Allí noted that the continued delay in the Teachers’ recruitment process in the State is a blemish on its Education sector, adding that most public school students passed through a short-staffed Education system

The group further lamented the continuous failure of the incumbent administration in the recruitment of manpower for the core sectors of the society, noting that this has slowed down the growth and development of the State at large.

TOM, however called on the Government to expedite actions on the recruitment of teachers and health workers to safeguard the future of the State.

The report has it that many people have been displaced and several houses and shops were also razed in the attack, as indigenes of the two communities have been fighting themselves in villages and disputed land in the area before today’s incident.

In a video circulating online, some concerned youth of Ifon Osun, Orolu Kingdom, were seen saying they cannot keep looking and be watching Olobu & Ilobu people burning their shops and houses at midnight any longer.

While speaking on Rédíò Afínjú’s current affairs programme ‘Gbagede Ọrọ’ , an indigene of Ifon, Adesina Mumeen, maintained that Ilobu’s residents failure to vacate the buffer zone, which the government has earmarked caused the fresh unrest.

In defense of Ilobu, the Otun Jagun of Ilobu, Chief Leke Ogunsola, denied attacking residents of Ifon.

He noted that Ifon indigenes have been attacking them on their farmland in areas like Agbere Onireke and Opapa, adding that a chief was also struck with an attempt to kidnap him but he was rescued by farmers around.

Meanwhile, security personnel have been deployed to guard the area and instill peace in the land.
