Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Boma Akpore, has revealed the emotional reasons behind the end of a relationship that was heading toward marriage.

In an interview on the Chude Jideonwo Podcast, Boma shared that his partner’s family rejected him, citing concerns over his public image and the scrutiny that comes with his fame.

According to Boma, he had plans to propose to his partner in August and had even made arrangements for a trip to the United States to buy an engagement ring. However, those plans came to an abrupt halt when his partner’s family expressed strong disapproval of their union.

“The relationship was amazing,” Boma reflected. “We had our ups and downs, but overall, I thought it was perfect. I was planning to propose – I was supposed to get the ring from America. I even told her I was going to marry her.”

But things changed dramatically when his partner’s family intervened. “Once the family got involved, they said, ‘This guy? Hell no, impossible.’ And that just shattered everything,” Boma explained. “It was really discouraging.”

Boma pointed out that the public attention surrounding his life contributed to the rejection. “If I wasn’t in the entertainment industry or in the public eye, people wouldn’t know some things about me. But once you’re in the public, that’s the price you have to pay.”

Despite the setback, Boma emphasized that he cherished the time he spent in the relationship. He added that while things didn’t work out, the experience taught him valuable lessons about love, family dynamics, and the challenges of being a public figure.

Iran has announced that it will boycott next week’s World Cup finals draw in Washington due to the United States’ refusal to issue visas for several members of its delegation.

The decision was confirmed by the Iranian Football Federation, IFF, on Friday.

In a statement from the spokesperson for the federation said, “We have informed FIFA that the decisions taken are not related to sports, and the members of the Iranian delegation will not participate in the World Cup draw.”

According to Iranian sports website Varzesh 3, the U.S. denied visas to multiple members of the Iranian delegation, including IFF president Mehdi Taj. Taj publicly condemned the decision as politically motivated, stating on Thursday, “We have told FIFA president Gianni Infantino that this is purely a political stance, and FIFA must urge the U.S. to reverse its actions.”

Despite the visa issues, Varzesh 3 reported that four members of the delegation, including head coach Amir Ghalenoei, were granted visas and will attend the draw scheduled for December 5.

Iran secured its spot in the 2026 World Cup following a successful qualification campaign in March, marking their fourth consecutive appearance in the tournament and seventh overall.

While Iran has yet to advance past the group stages, their historic 2-1 victory over the U.S. in the 1998 World Cup in France remains a defining moment in their football history. The U.S. later defeated Iran 1-0 in the 2022 edition of the tournament.

The ongoing political tension between the U.S. and Iran, which has lasted for more than four decades, has been exacerbated by recent developments. Although high-level nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington began earlier this year, they collapsed in June following Israel’s unprecedented bombing campaign against Iran, which escalated into a 12-day conflict.

As co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico, the U.S. is at the center of this latest diplomatic dispute, with the upcoming draw set to take place amid these tensions.

ECOWAS has suspended Guinea-Bissau from the regional bloc following a military coup that halted the country’s electoral process.

The decision was announced after an emergency virtual summit of West African leaders. Military officers had taken control, suspended the elections, and detained President Umaro Embaló along with key officials.

The coup happened as the country awaited official election results and weeks after the government claimed it foiled an earlier coup attempt. Observation teams from the AU, ECOWAS, and the West African Elders Forum condemned the takeover.

In its statement, ECOWAS demanded the immediate release of the president and other detained officials and said Guinea-Bissau would remain suspended until constitutional order is restored.

The bloc also set up a mediation team led by the presidents of Togo, Cabo Verde, and Senegal to engage the coup leaders. ECOWAS urged the country’s armed forces to return to their constitutional duties.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in Akwa Ibom has given starter packs to five inmates to help them rebuild their lives after leaving custody.

The command’s spokesperson, Richard Metong, said the items were presented at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Uyo.

Controller of the command, Frank Okonkwo, said the gesture supports the NCoS mandate on rehabilitation. He explained that empowering inmates reduces repeat crimes and promotes public safety.

According to him, trained and equipped inmates return to society as skilled and productive citizens.

The empowerment programme was carried out with support from partners and is part of ongoing efforts to improve vocational training in the command.

The inmates were trained in hairdressing, tailoring and barbing, and each received tools needed to start work immediately.

Metong said two of the five beneficiaries have already been released, while the remaining three will leave custody between now and 2026.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has announced the list of match officials selected to officiate at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, set to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

A total of 73 experienced officials have been appointed for this prestigious tournament, including 28 referees, 31 assistant referees, and 14 VAR officials. These officials have been carefully chosen to represent all regions of Africa, with many having officiated at major CAF competitions in recent years.

However, no Nigerian referees made the list, a noteworthy absence in this year’s selection.

The appointed officials are expected to arrive in Morocco on December 15, 2025, for an intensive preparatory course ahead of the competition.

This training program, organized by CAF’s Referees Department, will focus on physical, technical, and theoretical assessments designed to ensure the highest standards of officiating throughout the tournament.

Several young people identified as cult members in Ondo City have voluntarily surrendered their weapons and renounced their involvement in cult groups.

The Ondo Ekimogun Youths organised the disarmament event in partnership with the Police Area Command.

The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Olusola Ayanlade, said the move shows the power of community cooperation in tackling long-standing security issues, explaining that some of those who surrendered were well known to the police and had been on the Command’s watchlist for cult related crimes.

According to Ayanlade, the police also helped resolve a long-running conflict between two rival cult groups whose clashes had earlier claimed eight lives.

The State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, praised the youth group for supporting peace efforts and promised continued cooperation, saying that the police would encourage more cultists to give up their activities, while warning that those who continue in crime will face arrest.

A total of 17 weapons and 12 rounds of ammunition, including 9mm rounds, AA cartridges, locally made guns, and Beretta pistols were handed over.

Ayanlade added that the Command will continue working with communities to maintain peace and improve security across the state.

Bandits have kidnapped 24 people, including pregnant women, from a rice farm in Palaita community, Erena Ward, Shiroro LGA of Niger State.

The attackers struck while residents were harvesting crops and escaped before security forces could respond, despite the area being close to a military base.

Earlier, another group of armed men attacked the Kakuru community in the same ward, assaulting a blind man and cutting off his right hand after taking a mobile phone from him.

He told them the phone belonged to a neighbour, but the attackers still amputated his hand. He is receiving first aid in Kuduru community.
