‘Tunde Kelani was my friend but our differences split us’ – Baba Wande

Veteran Nollywood actor Kareem Adepoju, popularly known as Baba Wande, has hinted that renowned filmmaker Tunde Kelani of Mainframe Productions is his close friend in the film industry, but financial gain has set them apart.

Baba Wande who stated this while speaking with Rédíò Afínjú correspondent mentioned that he scripted the popular movie “Ti Oluwa Nilẹ” but was only produced and marketed by Tunde Kelani.

He frowned at Jide Kosoko’s claim of sex for role syndrome in the movie industry, saying the request for sex is all about how every actor’s disposition, emphasizing that prostitution is not welcomed in the film industry.

Baba Wande, who traced his acting career to 1963 under the tutelage of Baba Oyin Adejobi, explained that paying for his trip to the Holy Land of Mecca in the year 1979 was the most joyful moment in his career.

In commemoration of his 62nd year on stage, Baba Wande announced that he is working on bringing back on screen “T’Oluwa Nile” reloaded which is promised to be more interesting than the former.

Recounting how he got his stage name, “Baba Wande”, the veteran actor stressed that he got his name from a movie he once acted “Ile ti a fi tọ mọ,” adding that Wande is not his biological child’s name.

He, however, urged modern-day actors and actresses to shun nudity and other vices in their films, as most viewers, especially the young ones, tend to learn and initiate what they see on screen.
