The power tussle between the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC in Osun State’s local government administration took a new style following a meeting with the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi.

Recall that operations at the 30 local government areas and the area office have been on halt for a period of close to 2 months after the State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress directed its members to stay off duty over anticipated unrest that emanated from a Court of Appeal ruling which ‘reinstated’ the sacked Chairmen of APC.

Although the APC-installed chairmen and councilors have resumed office, civil servants in the local government secretariats have refused to return to work.

However, Osun APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi, in a statement today, mentioned that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s delegate visit to the AGF’s office to plead the government’s case was not fruitful, adding that the federal government had reaffirmed the legal backing of the APC-elected officials.

APC further accused Adeleke of deceiving PDP supporters and advised him to accept that the local government administration is now in the coffers of the ‘elected’ APC officials.

Reacting to this, Osun PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, decried the claims and labeled them as propaganda while accusing the APC of forcefully taking over local councils.

Bisi stated that the APC has been misleading the public and failed to accept that its control of the councils was no longer tenable.
