INEC receives petition seeking Natasha’s recall

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed the reception of the petition seeking the recall process of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Secretary to the commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, received the petition.

In the petition the Kogi Central constituent said; “We, the undersigned being duly registered voters of the Kogi Central Senatorial District, hereby invoke our rights under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to formally demand the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Nigerian Senate.

Rédíò Afínjú earlier reported that the Senate had suspended Natasha for six months over an alleged case of misconduct.

This move has since widely been reacted to by key actors in the country and the world at large, with many saying the suspension directives should be revisited.

Meanwhile, INEC, through its Secretary, confirmed the recipient of the petition recalling Natasha back to the chambers.
