Legislative activities threatened as PASSAN gives strike ultimatum in Abia

The Parliamentary staff members gave the ultimatum through a statement they issued after the meeting of their Executive Council.

According to the PASSAN members, they are demanding financial autonomy, consolidated legislative salary structure, CONLESS, and administrative autonomy, which they said were not yet implemented in the Abia State House of Assembly.

The statement which was signed by the Chairman of PASSAN in the State, Kalu Sunday, and the Secretary, Ucheka Ugochukwu referred to an ultimatum dated November 19, 2024, about their demands.

The Association, during the meeting of the Executive Council of PASSAN held on January 28, 2025, observed that the State government was yet to attend to any of their demands, adding that no single action was taken to avert industrial crises.

The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria Abia State Executive Council therefore issued a 7-day ultimatum from 31st January to 10th February 2025.

This threat to embark on strike was issued on the same day the members of the Judiciary Staff Association of Nigeria, JUSUN, resumed work after a one-month strike in the State.
