Nigeria seeks China’s collaboration for drone production

The Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, Joseph Tegbe, who led the Nigerian delegation, said the collaboration with Loong UAV aims to strengthen Nigeria’s capabilities in drone technology facilitating access to essential services and commodities in remote or hard-to-reach regions and explore broader opportunities for cooperation.

He further emphasised that the partnership would support not only economic growth and development but also position Nigeria as a key player in Africa’s industrialisation.

Tegbe added that the agreements and investments demonstrate the NCSP’s commitment to driving Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation through targeted Chinese investments.

He highlighted other collaborative efforts with the Chinese government and companies, which include improving smart, qualitative education, enhancing healthcare delivery, upgrading communications technology, strengthening security infrastructure, and digitalising key government facilities.

He also mentioned plans to renovate and upgrade equipment in selected teaching hospitals across Nigeria.

Tegbe elaborated on an agreement between the NCSP and Chilwee Group, a leading Chinese manufacturer of advanced batteries and power storage solutions. This partnership aims to improve Nigeria’s energy security, promote renewable energy, and reduce carbon emissions.

The Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership continues to strengthen bilateral relations, with recent agreements and investments in energy, technology, and manufacturing sectors expected to drive Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation.
