Police arraign salesgirl for allegedly stealing employer’s N2.1m

The Police in Lagos have arraigned a 23-year-old salesgirl, Bukola Adeoye, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing her employer’s N2.1 million.

Adeoye, whose address is unknown, was standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing. She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 20, 2024, at about 2:00 pm, at Mosafejo Area of Badagry, Lagos.

Adeosun further alleged that Adeoye stole N968,200 cash, belonging to her employer, Zannu Thomas, who is the complainant.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant also converted to her personal use the sales made for one week – N1,174,800.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adekomaiya adjourned the case until February 11, for further mention.
