According to reports, the Osun Government had earlier made moves to re-possess the land despite a 2021 Court Judgment that gave ownership to the Gbaemu Royal family. The re-possession attempts led to the harassment of one M. A Yusuf, who was on duty as counsel to the Gbaemu family, to effect the 2021 judgment.

In his ruling on the matter, the presiding judge, Justice A.O Oyebiyi, gave the order following the agreement of the counsel to the respondent, Ayanyemi, with the Counsel to the Plaintiff, Naim Adekilekun’s claim of the respondent’s visit to the land in dispute and the demolition of structures, on the 14th of November 2024.

Both parties were ordered to vacate the disputed land pending the hearing and determination of the application before the Court, which is scheduled to be held on the 28th of January 2025.

The Judge further ordered the counsels to advise their clients not to go to or take any action on the said land pending the determination of the motion.
