The Programme, which is aimed at cushioning the effect of the hike commodity prices for Osun State dwellers, offers food items to low-income earners and vulnerable persons at up to 30% discount compared to food market prices.
According to a Statement made available to the Press, “the Food Subsidy Programme will, in the first instance, make rice, beans, gaari, yam, and eggs available to the target audience at discounts up to 30% compared to food market prices.”
“The targeted audience include low-income earners who are widows/widowers, single mothers, private school teachers, indigent students, and vulnerable youths in the State who must be residents of Osun State.”
“The Food Subsidy Programme is targeting 100 households in the first instance, and is in continuation of the aligned vision of the participating organizations, to ease livelihood for low-income earners in Osun State, as a means of contribution to improved standards of living.”
The Osun Food Bank Programme Officer, Abdullahi Folaranmi, stated that the Programme will continue to offer critical food support to extremely poor persons across selected catchment areas. He further stated that the cooperating organizations are open to support from non-political, and non-governmental bodies to expand the capacity of the Programme and reach more persons.
