Reports said the incident which occurred in the early hours of today affected the Emergency and Accident Unit of the hospital while some office equipment, books, engines, electronic gadgets, roofs and ceilings worth millions of naira were razed.
It was learnt the fire outbreak started at about 5 am in a pediatric consultant’s office and is suspected to have started from an electric spark.

The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Omotayo Ogunleye who confirmed the incident to newsmen disclosed that about 16 patients had to be quickly rushed out of the ward.
Ogunleye however said that normal activities have resumed in the hospital.
