ONDO ELECTION: POLL COMMENCES ACROSS STATE

…Sensitive and Non-Sensitive Materials dispatched across Akure South and Akure North Local Governments, as Ondo Gubernatorial Election begins.

The Ondo Election has commenced in several locations across the State. The off-cycle election has seventeen (17) political parties taking part in the process, including the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC), and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to data made available by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the process is to take place in 3,933 polling units across the 203 Wards of the State. The Commission says it has deployed 393 Supervisory Presiding Officers to oversee the election in the Registration Areas, and has also deployed 4002 BVAS Machines across the State. The Commission further disclosed that it has also earmarked 812 BVAS machines as backup in cases of technical malfunction.

The total number of registered voters in the State stands at 2,053,061 while a total of 1,757,205 persons have collected their PVCs and are eligible to participate in the election. According to Data gathered by our Correspondent, a total number of 1,288 Persons Living With Disabilities are participating in the election across 1,017 Polling Units.

Data obtained from the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room show that 726,944 Youths are registered voters in the State, representing 35.41% of the total population of registered voters. The total number of old people stands at 162,619, representing 7.92% of the total number of registered voters.

Visits by our Correspondents to several locations in Akure South and Akure North Local Governments reveal that sensitive and non-sensitive election materials were dispatched from the Registration Area Centres to the respective Polling Units at about 6:45am.
