Stephen Chamberlain, the co-defendant of British tech tycoon Mike Lynch in a recent US fraud trial, has tragically died in a car accident. Chamberlain, who was acquitted along with Lynch, was struck by a car while running in Cambridgeshire, England.
Chamberlain, a former vice-president of finance at Autonomy and later the chief operating officer of Darktrace, was described as a “courageous man” with “unparalleled integrity” by his lawyer, Gary Lincenberg. His family also paid tribute to him, describing him as a “much loved husband, father, son, brother and friend.”
The news of Chamberlain’s death comes as searches continue for Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter, who are among six people missing from a yacht that was struck by a storm off the coast of Sicily. Both Lynch and Chamberlain had connections to Cambridgeshire, with Lynch having studied at the University of Cambridge and Chamberlain being involved in the local community.
The tragic loss of Chamberlain has sent shockwaves through the tech community and the lives of those who knew him. His family, friends, and colleagues are mourning his passing and offering their condolences during this difficult time.
